The Unwanted Habit of Smoking

Smoking!

Aѕ many smokers find, ѕmоking can be an extraordinarily diffiсult thing to give uр. It is not only thе рhуѕiсаl addiction, but also thе social aspect of thе habit that iѕ diffiсult fоr the ѕmоkеr tо break. The rоutinе bесоmеѕ part оf thе fabric оf their dау, bе it stepping оutѕidе for a firѕt cigarette or ѕitting in a рub with a pint оf bееr and ѕmоking with a friend: оnсе thеѕе mоmеntѕ are wоvеn intо the fаbriс of оur livеѕ the habit becomes more and mоrе diffiсult to brеаk.

Smokers find that their habit helps them improve concentration and performance, relieve boredom and enhance their mood. Despite the fact that the smoking habit is extremely addictive and a well known cause of devastating diseases and death, the consumption of smoking products is widespread and cigarette manufacturers have already made a fortune out of it.

It all starts with that one cigarette just to try for that often becomes a habit and never ends. A cigarette a day turns into two cigarettes that leads to multiple packs of smokes in a single day. The Nicotine inhaled from smoked cigarette is absorbed by lungs and runs into bloodstream that quickly reaches heart and brain. The smokers also claim that they enjoy the ritual of smoking. They are satisfied with their habit because it brings them pleasurable feeling. Once they reach this stage, they need more cigarette to satisfy their need of nicotine. The statistics of year 2018 tells that around 7.2 million people smoked cigarettes in UK that is 14.7% of total population. If we talk about the constituent countries, 14.4% smokers are from England, 15.9% from Wales, 16.3% from Scotland and 15.5% from Northern Ireland. In the whole of UK, there were 16.5% male smoker and 13% were female. The highest proportion of smokers aged 25 to 34 were 19.2% in UK in year 2018. Gladly, 58.4% of people who have been smoking are willing to quit this habit and 61.3% of people who have ever smoked claims that have quit their habit of smoking successfully and never returned.

Why You Want to Give up Smoking Now

The effects of smoking on human body are all negative and deadlier. Apart from effects on heart, lungs and brain, it has a very devastating effect on skin, bones, mouth, throat and it also affect the fertility on a human. The toxin from tar in cigarettes enter the bloodstream which thickens the blood that can cause blood clots, narrows the arteries, reduces the amount of oxygen rich blood that human organs require and makes a heart working faster than usual. These consequences can lead to a regrettable devastation of heart attack. Similar is the case with brain that when clots are formed, chances of brain damage and death increases. Smoking has become a significant reason of lungs cancer. When sufficient amount of oxygen does not reach the skin, it starts aging and becomes dull and grey. Smoking is also hazardous to mouth ulcers and wounds that can cause mouth cancer. It has also been repeatedly announced that smoking causes impotency in males and destroys fertility of females.

Quitting smoking will do yourself a life-saving favour because with the passage of time, the damage caused by smoking can be recovered from. Life expectancy can increase and the risks for deadlier diseases like lungs cancer, throat cancer, high blood pressures, erectile and sexual dysfunction and kidney can reduce substantially. Apart from your own health, the passive smoker in the family, especially children, will be positive affected. The improvement in your senses of smell and taste will bring back the joy of tasting and eating delicious meals. For men, a lack of erectile disfunction can be the source of all sorts of pleasure. Dull, grey and prematurely aged skin may be revived into a healthy, glowing and shining. Since “It is never too late”, you can always plan to quit smoking and gain all benefit this has to offer.
